abstract: This course of lectures provides a general survey of the field of literary studies and should be attended in parallel to the PS I: Introduction to Literary Studies. It will familiarize students with the basic questions and areas of English and American literary studies in its present state, which covers not only literature, but also a wide range of theoretical questions as well as media and cultural studies perspectives. Within this framework the most important approaches to analysing texts will be introduced through exemplary close readings of many key texts of literary and cultural history.
