abstract: Little progress in Copenhagen, but at least agreement of combatting Climate Change. International treaties are necessary, need to define a framework. Yet countries need individual solutions to fulfill their reduction goals. Biggest burden of reduction lies upon developped countries, which implies radical changes. Immediate action is crucial, but in the right steps. Lessons from Germany (success and failure): More than 20% reduction is achieved (of the baseline 1990), studies say that the 2050 reduction goal is technically and economically feasible. Yet change has to be conducted. No way around the electricity sector (responsible for around 50% of the emissions). What are the solutions- Nuclear? Not sustainable, risks of dangers, no safe storage, misuse of technology. CCS? Not enough storage site. Green energy! Germany would even be able to export.
